Dear All,

one of the important aspects of learning for you to keep learning and be able to do is to gain new knowledge and skills and be able to do it independently. One of the paths to reach this goal is to have a good idea about the tools and resources that are available and be able to use them when necessary. This course will finish in May, but you should continue improving your writing skills to reach the level of mastery. So with the view of this in mind, here is the task for you to do today.

You need to find a website which is devoted to some aspect of Writing in English. It could be a website that contains information about one of the following things

1. The process of writing

2. Some tasks to help you improve your writing

3. A website that discusses the elements of style

4. Some fun stuff that will help you to get motivated to write

5. Some resource about advanced vocabulary for writing

6. Some resource about the Mechanics of writing

7. Some resource about the element of writing of your choice

Once you have chosen it, explain why you found it useful and interesting, give us some details about the website for us to have a clear idea about its content and provide some examples of it.

Add how your peers can benefit from using it.

The website which I found useful for improving writing skills is "Grammarly". This resource helps to check what you have written and summarise the most common mistakes you have. Also, it helps to check a text on plagiarism. Moreover, it helps to broaden your vocabulary with different suggestions for different types of texts.
From grammar and spelling to style and tone, Grammarly helps you eliminate errors and find the perfect words to express yourself.

    2. It is an additional tool to your browser, which corrects your grammar, punctuation, formality, spelling and conciseness mistakes. For example, it provides you with better word choice, removes redundant words etc. It can help you with:
      Better Word Pairs
      Wordiness
      Commonly Confused Words
      Misspelled Words

    1. This site is very huge, and you, actually, need some time to understand where you can find information, which you need, and what kind of info. However, after searching for a lot of sections and links here, I found this site very useful because, as Dasha has written, there are a lot of information about the process of writing, grammar and so on. For exapmle, they even have a section devoted to English as the Second Language (for students and for teachers as well).

    4. For example, the author says that he always suggests the book called On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft by Stephen King, but at the same time he says that the book How Fiction Works by James Wood is very heavy to read and "you have to devote a lot of brain power to this one, but if you do, it is what I like to call a Gold Mine". So he gives you pieces od advice which could help you to save your time in choosing the resource.

  13. It's important to know different ways of writing. I've found some websites related to this purpose: http://www.wilbers.com/style.htm https://writerswrite.co.za/10-elements-of-writing-style/
It helps writers to choose their own style. There's some information about how to write, using colorful vocabulary, creating rhythm and emphasis by balancing the components of your sentence. Also, it includes eight “elementary rules of usage”, ten “elementary principles of composition”, “a few matters of form”, a list of 49 “words and expressions commonly misused”. Websites are very simple and useful.

  15. Dear All,

I have read all your comments and can say that as a result of you reading the information your peers have presented first and also you checking it yourselves, you have been able to provide sufficient amount of information to have a good idea about the websites' content. From which my advice is for all of you to consider what you write about from a larger number of perspectives, which can help you penetrate in the heart of the issues you write about.
